What Is Wing Tsun Kung Fu?

Discover Wing Tsun Kung Fu - Realistic Chinese Martial Art Developed By Women For Fast Self-Defense

Translated literally, Wing Tsun means "beautiful springtime," or "everlasting springtime." Wing Tsun is also called "Wing Chun" or "Wing Tzun" or "Ving Tsun" and many more spelling combinations. All are pronounced the same:"wing chun".

According to Wing Tsun Kung Fu, there are five fighting distances that are applied in defeating the enemy:

  • long distance = using kicks
  • medium distance = using various punching methods
  • short distance = using elbow and knee techniques
  • anti-grappling or counter grappling techniques

These are used against joint locking, throwing and other grappling techniques many practise in today's popular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or MMA = Mixed Martial Arts schools.

Wing Tsun is completely different from many of today's popular martial arts styles, such as Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or even traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu. These styles block first and then attack. EBMAS Wing Tzun emphasizes offensive self-defense, focusing on concepts of simultanious defense and attack.

Wing Tsun is not a style, but a concept that will change with each individual. EBMAS WT is based on human biomechanics, matematics, physics and chemistry rather than animal movements, using primarily straight line, fast, direct strikes and sophisticated simultaneous attack and defense = "Universal Solution",deflecting the force of an opponent rather than attempting to meet a possibly greater force directly.

The way the art produces efficient fighters in a relatively short amount of time is by sticking to several core principles and by taking a very generic approach to techniques.

Much training time in Wing Tsun Kung Fu is spent cultivating "Contact Reflexes." The student practices guarding various zones about the body and deals generically with whatever happens to be contacted or touched in that zone. This allows for a minimum of technique for a maximum of application, and for the use of an automatic or subconscious response.

The aim of EBMAS Wing Tzun is to develop physical, mental and spiritual awareness of which will transcend you to a higher level of life. Self-awareness, self respect and a duty to serve should be the goal of life in every martial artist. Additional benefits are stress control, discipline and improved concentration, confidence and overall well-being.

And at last: Wing Tsun Kung Fu's skills are within the reach of anybody regardless of sex, age, body type or muscle development. So anyone willing to spend some sweat and time can realistically learn how to protect themselves or loved ones withing short period of time. There is no need to waste time here. Your opponent can be the next guy in a pub, on the street or in the park!
